NHS Welcomes 24 Veterans to Veterans' Day Ceremony

Nonnewaug High School welcomed 24 veterans from all branches of the military and their family members as honored guests at the Veterans' Day commemoration this morning. The Veterans' Day event was organized by the NHS Rho Kappa members and advisor Marisa Christoff.

The event included a formal presentation of the flags by the Color Guard, music of each military branch by the NHS Band, Orchestra, and Chorus, the reading of "In Flanders Fields" and "God Made a Veteran," and the distribution of poppies. Students Brayden Whipple and Kailey Meeker read their essays on their experiences growing up in a military family. Following the commemoration, students and staff cheered as the veterans were led to the CCRC for refreshments made by the NHS culinary students.

It was a wonderful event of appreciation for those who have served and a way to recognize the significance of Veterans Day. Thank you to these men and women for their service.
