NHS Marks National POW/MIA Day With Ceremony

To mark National POW/MIA Recognition Day, Nonnewaug High School senior Kayleigh Townsend led a brief ceremony down at the POW/MIA Honor Chair monument near the NHS turf.

The Honor Chair serves as a forever reminder of American soldiers who never came home from war and remain unaccounted for. Townsend was joined today for the 5th annual ceremony by Army veteran Bud Neal and Navy veteran Bob Kelleher, who spoke about the meaning of the elements in the memorial.

Also present were school and town officials, students in Scott Parkhouse's history class, and Matt and Kim Grivner, whose son Andrew (NHS'25) erected this memorial for his Eagle Scout Project in 2022.
