NHS Graduate Chloe Weaver Named 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholar

Nonnewaug High School is proud to announce that graduate Chloe Weaver has been named a 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholar. Weaver, who is from Oxford and is a 2025 graduate of the Ellis Clark Agriscience Program at Nonnewaug, is one of four students in Connecticut and one of only 161 nationwide to earn this prestigious honor.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program recognizes and honors distinguished top-performing students in the nation in academics, visual, fine, and performing arts, and the career and technical education fields. Students are selected based on outstanding academic performance, artistic achievements, technical excellence, essays, and commitment to community service and leadership.

Weaver is a freshman at the University of Vermont, majoring in Animal Science, and is in the STEM Scholars Program.

As part of the U.S. Presidential Scholars Award, scholar recipients nominate a teacher who has been a positive influence in their school career. Weaver nominated Agriscience Teacher Jennifer Jedd for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Distinguished Teacher Award.

“Chloe is an amazing kid and a true embodiment of what it means to be an Agriscience student here at Nonnewaug High School,” said NHS Principal Dr. Mykal Kuslis. “She is reliable, motivated, and has shown a great deal of enthusiasm to make the world a better place. I am happy that she was recognized with this prestigious honor. We wish her the best of luck as she pursues her dreams in college and know that she will do great things.”

Weaver will receive her U.S. Presidential Scholar medallion in a few weeks.
